Working with Sheet Goods: Plywood, Baltic Birch, and TruFlat
Share
Sheet goods are the backbone of a lot of what we do. They offer consistency, strength, and efficient use of material, which makes them perfect for both CNC carving and laser work. We keep a steady stock of standard plywood, Baltic birch, and TruFlat on hand, each with its own advantages depending on the project.
Baltic birch is the workhorse for precision work. It has tight, uniform layers and minimal voids, which means smooth cuts, clean edges, and solid joints. It’s ideal for boxes, signs, and detailed pieces where accuracy matters. TruFlat is a premium option we use for projects that need a flawless surface and consistent thickness. It stays stable, resists warping, and takes engraving cleanly.
Standard plywood is more economical and great for larger builds or rustic designs. It machines well, though we often seal or finish the surface to reduce tear-out and bring out a cleaner look. With the right settings, laser engraving adds dark, defined marks that stand out without burning too deep.
Sheet goods give us flexibility to scale ideas efficiently. Whether it’s a one-off sign, a run of engraved panels, or a batch of nested parts, they keep production accurate and repeatable. If you’re looking for custom plywood signs, engraved Baltic birch pieces, or TruFlat panels cut to order, this is where durability meets design.
