Working with Acrylic and Plastics
Share
Acrylic and plastics open up a different side of the shop. They cut clean, engrave with precision, and bring a modern look that fits where wood or metal might not. We use them for signage, display pieces, and specialty items that need sharp contrast and a polished finish.
Acrylic engraves beautifully. The laser frosts the surface, turning clear material into a soft white mark that catches the light. On colored acrylic, the engraving shows as a crisp tone shift that stays smooth to the touch. We can cut it into intricate shapes with polished edges straight off the machine, no sanding needed. It’s strong, lightweight, and weather resistant, which makes it perfect for both indoor and outdoor use.
For layered work, we often combine acrylic with wood or metal. The mix of textures adds depth and contrast, especially in signage or branded pieces. Plastics like Rowmark and other two-tone laminates are also great for detailed engraving. The top layer vaporizes cleanly to reveal a bright, contrasting color underneath, producing professional results that are durable and consistent.
Acrylic and plastic are ideal for custom signs, awards, nameplates, and precision-cut parts. They hold detail, resist wear, and stay true over time. Every edge is clean, every cut intentional, and every finish ready to last.
